Review of Ouija (2014) by Brandon W — 26 Jan 2015
I knew from the trailers that it was going to suck, and when it was directed by the same people that wrote The Possession, I also knew that it was not going to be scary. But for some reason, lots of people in my school say that it's scary, even my sister liked it.
After watching it, I didn't understand why, I thought it was dull. The acting is fine, Olivia Cooke is the best part in the movie, but their characters are not so. I barely know anything about them and it doesn't make me root for them to survive as they keep doing stupid things.
The scares are limited in it, and once in a while it startled me at the very best, but for most of them I knew where it was going and was just going for loud noises to scare people. I do appreciate that despite being a ghost story, it doesn't become an exorcist movie when Ouija goes along, but it gives us scenes that reminds us of other scary movies that are way better than this.
Ouija is a very forgettable horror movie that really shouldn't be made.
