Yeah, this movie sucked. The plot was difficult to follow and lackluster and honestly could have been a lot better, since it's centered around such an accursed item. Just a super bland supernatural slasher in the vein of a really horrible Final Destination film or The Nightmare on Elm Street remake, at least there is actually a killer even if they are essentially non-existant.
