Review of Otis (2008) by Jason D — 13 Jun 2008
I gotta say, Otis really took me by surprise. This is how you do low budget, direct to video horror. Good story, great actors, a fun mix of horror and comedy, and one particularly favorite detail of mine was the music.
None of this awful, grade-F music from bands no one has ever heard of. There was great music to go along with the storyline. The story revolves around a sadistic sociopath/pizza delivery guy whose envy for his brother "perfect" high school career and wife leads him to kidnap beautiful young girls to play his game of high-school life culminating towards him taking her to the prom.
After going through 5 chicks, he lands one who has a father that wants revenge. I'm leaving out a lot of material of course, but the film plays really well, and leaves you hanging at the end, but in a good way as you are begging for me.
Excellent film. And it freaking has Tracy Scoggins in it, that crazy cocked up bitch. Also, no one may get this cameo, but it has a brief appearance by the same black guy hospital orderly (Freddie Boom Boom from Welcome Back, Kotter) that graces another Raw Feed film, Sublime, whose character sadistically tortures the residents of the hospital.
Real cool seeing him show up again briefly.
