Other people is the story of the Mayer family. David is a struggling comedy writer who comes home to sacramento to be with his sick mother who has cancer. David's past includes a tough break up and the fact his father hasn't been to comfortable with his homosexuality. David spends the year trying to prepare himself for the inevitable passing of his mother and learning how to move forward with the rest of his life no thanks to all the complications he has to deal with.

This was pretty funny and really good. the script is magnificent. the dialogue was great really authentic and rich in meaning. its well directed from chris Kelly. It seems personal like he went through it himself but if not its hella relatable. So real and human as well. it tackles some really tough elements of a family household when dealing with someone who has a tumor and when one of the family members is gay and the family is conservative.

Jesse plemons david is really interesting. Its not a character we normally see in these kinds of dramedies. He maybe homosexual but its not as much of a factor in this story. Not as much as the black cloud hanging over everyone's head is. I will say though he played the gay role pretty well and gave such a emotional and heartfelt performance just like Shannon. molly Shannon delivers a heartbreaking, remarkable performance. you feel for her but also love her vibrant personality and energy that is brought into this character. She will move many to tears with this role. JJ totah was very very impressive in his film debut. This flamboyant, funny gay child was great to watch on screen. Already this kid's got major range and no fear when it comes to his acting ability.

Along with the solid editing and pacing Other People is a strong picture with a lot of heart too it.
