Review of OSS 117: Lost in Rio (2009) by Andrew M — 13 Jan 2010
They ignored everything that made the first OSS117 film great. What a major, major disappointment. In fact I found it down right boring. How could things have changed so much in just one year? Was it too soon to try to follow up the first film because the script focused less on the buffoonery of OSS117 and more on his cultural ignorance, trying to solicit laughs based on the defamation of other cultures.
I guess you could say it was more French than its predecessor seeing as France would appear to have its own problems internally with how it handles other cultures. The focus groups were wrong! There needed to be more of those Peter Sellers moments and less culture bashing.
A downright disappointment.
