Review of Osama (2004) by Tim W — 28 Jan 2005
An austerely beautiful film about a girl, who assumes the identity of a boy so she can work to provide food for her family, in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. This is not a film you will come away from feeling good. After viewing I commented to the friends with whom I was watching the film that citizens of the free-world have no complaints. We are truly blessed that we live in a society in which we can make our own decisions, and choose our own destinies. The Afghani people could not.
Highly recommended.
