Review of Osama (2004) by Jennifer O — 05 Sep 2008
This power of this film is that is could be about any individual. In this child, we see ourselves as children. The mother who risks her child's life could be one of us, although we'd like to think we are stronger than that.
One of the most important things showcased by this film, for me, is how this could happen ANYWHERE... It isn't a "muslim" movie... It is a movie about people trying to survive in a regime drunk on power.
All regimes can become power-drunk... Although, it takes place in the Middle East and involves images and activities unimaginable to most western world individuals, somehow the most important thing showcased is how much we are alike.
