Review of Orpheus (2013) by Megan P — 15 Nov 2007
Jean Cocteau believed that a poet was not just a writer, he/she was a sculptor, a painter, a metallergist, a filmmaker, etc... Poets told a story in any medium. Cocteau has always been obsessed with Greek mythology, especially the trial of Orpheus.
He believed that he embodied Orpheus. He was one of the first to use film in the way he did using surrealist imagery. I could go on and on about it, but you will just have to read my Master's thesis to find out what I really think of this work!
