Scottish scenery chewing...I realize some of the touching moments may have been less meaningful to me since I didn't grow up/live in Scotland in the 80s and 90s, but I felt it wavered between magical realism and a script that was a bit heavy handed, without a clear way through (also, I wasn't convinced by the shock value).
Some scenes were stronger than others.
