Review of Orlando (1992) by Dave R — 12 Mar 2009
In a book on film that I read recently this movie was mentioned in the area of gender studies. it sounded interesting so I decided to watch it and indeed, it was interesting.
Orlando starts his life as a man but essentially can't live up to the expectations of manhood and miraculously morphs into a woman.
There is some interesting circularity in the story - as a man, orlando is rejected by a woman he loves; later as a woman he rejects a man for the same reason the woman rejected him!
All and all a very tripped out movie. if you're up for something artsy that's going to make you think then this is a good choice.
