Sorry to disagree, but I liked this movie.
I saw it on video, not in the theatre. And it yes, it does play out like a gothic-style romance novel (which I believe it was). But then, that is something that appeals to me. I love period dramas; the costumes, sets, music and even the plot flows really well. It is suspenseful; there are several surprises.
Antonio Banderas is awesome and Angelina Jolie is herself and that works really well for her in this mysterious role.
