Review of Ordinary People (1980) by Nelson P — 04 Jan 2011
One of my favorite movies and is by far the most powerful and emotional drama ever made. It is flawlessly made in every element of film making, having three performances that go above and beyond the boundaries of acting.
Timothy Hutton's tour de force performance was indeed Oscar worthy, but not in the supporting category, his performance sent that movie over the top, and his character without a doubt carried the story.
He is accompanied by Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland, both tremendous actors but are just overshadowed by Hutton in every possible. From start to finish you are so emotional involved with these characters, its impossible not to feel something for this fictional family.
I cant say I've seen a better acted movie.
