Robert Redford's "Ordinary People" is an excellent film about love, family-ties, and moving on. This is an extraordinary film that explores deep and thoughtful messages with undeniable precision.

Robert Redford directs his very first film with integrity and understanding of the subject. Redford leads this film with a highly perceptive and realistic approach. The cast is absolutely brilliant. Timothy Hutton delivers a terrific performance as a teenager who's guilt-ridden after his brother died.

Hutton is powerful in many scenes and was deserving of the Academy Award he got for this film. Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore are great as the teenager's parents. This film can be hard to watch, because of the emotionally heavy subject matter, but otherwise there's no reason at all to miss it.

One of the greatest movies ever made about a family in a mid-life crisis.
