Review of Orange County (2002) by Monsieur R — 27 Aug 2010
If only this film had a bit more too it, that's all I can say. Orange County is the movie that lacks at whatever it tries to accomplish on the screen.
Orange County is about a high school graduate who lives in a disfunctional divorced family. He dreams of going to Stanford to become a great writer. Then his dreams are crushed when the wrong transcript is sent and he is not accepted. Now he's on a mission to get accepted, no matter what he has to do. The story to the film isn't bad. As a matter of fact, the movie is quite enjoyable. But the film rushes so much that it hardly connects with the characters when it wants to show a connection, and the comedy isn't all that funny either. Not a bad concept, but the movie is in many ways half-asked.
This isn't a bad movie, especially when it has such a good comedy cast. If it weren't for the good casting, this movie wouldn't even be interesting. It's just that its not as developed as one would like it. But non the less this movie does have it's moments and is still fun to watch.
