Review of Oppenheimer (2023) by Thereisnospoon — 21 Jul 2023

Massively overhyped. I've been a huge fan of Nolan since Memento and this was by far his most dull yet. That it was filmed in IMAX is hilarious because there's not a whole lot to look at except for actors talking. 99.9% dialog for 3 freakin' hours. No reason at all to even watch this in the theater, and the dialog is so boring at times that it seems even Nolan was aware of it and decided to splice in all these weird effects, loud music, rumbling bass, and other sounds to make it more interesting. There is ONE nail-biting scene in the whole thing, and that's when the test bomb goes off. Then it's followed by another hour or so of boring dialog, and overacting by Robert Downey Jr. Never seen a more bored looking audience, either. 2 people started clapping at the end and nobody joined them LOL. Half of them were stretching like they'd fallen asleep.

Don't believe the hype.
