Review of Operation: Endgame (2010) by Jarek M — 03 Sep 2010
These kinds of movie's can be pretty misleading into thinking, hey the dude from the Hangover is in here, good rent! Instead, you get disappointment in how long he really is in the movie and pretty much a lot of things where way too dumb and way too stupid to be considered even an okay action movie.
A battle ensues between two rivaling secret government teams after their boss is murdered, while also being trapped in their hideout with only one hour before bombs detonate and destroy them all. Some pretty recent hit and popular stars hit this direct to DVD movie from Hangover star,Zach Galifianakis to Joe Anderson, Odette Yustman, Adam Scott, Brandon T.
Jackson, and even Hot Tub Time Machine star, Rob Coddry. Besides heavy swearing, insults, and a couple of bland political jokes, there's not much to go for at all from acting or dialogue and when they mix together in this movie, you get a feeling like they all did this for a paycheck and really wanted to bury this in their careers.
The first impressions of the beginning in this movie for me made me think like how this might be a unique an interesting film. It seemed like it would stray from what many government spy movies go through, but the plot sounds pretty stupid when performed.
When you think it becomes tense and exciting, it becomes more confusing and annoying. Character wise, you will start out with some pretty unique personality from them but in the end, they're shallow, over the top, stupid, and uninteresting.
This movie also has a tough time in choosing whether to be serious or be all pure black comedy, and it falters it completley. What I do enjoy is the killing, ad the excessive gore that works for this film, and some humor works pretty well if its spoken by Rob Coddry who plays an alcoholic assasin with issues.
The climax actually manages to put everything in prespecive, but if it took the time to edit the script and make the characters less like crazy ass holes, I would have enjoyed this much much more that I thought I would.
Im not saying this was the stupidest movie I've ever seen, but it couldve been much better.
