Review of Open Water (2004) by Anel A — 13 Sep 2010
Open water could've been destined for great things, but sadly ended up in my "Worst Film's Ever" list. The beginning of the film is still ok, when you are not sure what will happen or how the plot will play out.
However during this time, it seems like there is no underlying theme, motion or idea that connects the whole movie, but a rather stacco of scences that have nothing in common. When the two victims are left in the water, the first few minutes enthrall you as to what could happen, but after a few minutes it just gets annoying to watch two people drift around, and while waiting in vain for something to happen, you know their fate could only end in a few ways.
The suicide was just over kill, and if I were the director, i'd use some over kill to compensate for wasting viewer's time.
