Review of Open Water (2004) by Simon H — 13 Mar 2008
There's a lot of differences between 'Open Water' and many of todays films, and that is the feeling of the movie. It has a low budget compared to today's blockbusters. It has the feel of a home made movie or a documentary, but this makes it even better.
It just makes it feel so realistic. When they are on the boat, it gives you the feeling that you are actually joining them on the boat. The good thing about having just the two characters featured, means that you can really build up a connection with them.
When something happens to one of them, you really feel to them. It won't win any awards for story, but is definitely a refreshing look at cinema.
