Review of Open Water (2004) by Paul J — 30 Dec 2012
A distressing and unpleasant film, which isnt bad though. I think the best parts of the movie are definitely the realistic scenes where they actually take a little peek under the water and see all the sharks swimming there. That is spooky, because its real - thats what it would look like.
I wondered why it took so long for the sharks to arrive, I mean, her foot was injured and there was blood coming out, and the sharks smell or taste blood in the water hundreds of miles away. So technically, they should have been attacked sooner than they did in this film. Also, they both splashed the water like crazy - something that also attracks sharks.
After watching the film, I will never, and I mean NEVER, go on open sea away from the beach. Sharks are predators with hundreds of millions of years of training.
The only problem with the film was that it although wasn't boring, all that happens in it is just people floating in the water. And getting attacked by sharks, of course.
