Review of Open Water (2004) by Eytan D — 08 May 2013
A chilling and illuminating film, without question. "Open Water" finds real horror in the unbridled reality and hopelessness of the situation these characters are in. We know their diving boat is not coming back, and the fact that they are so far away from help makes you feel their pain and shock.
That's really how the movie grabs you. The sharks are just icing on the cake. "Open Water" is a fantastic film. One dares to call it a "Jaws" ripoff until they actually see the movie and their expectations are met with completely different results.
