Review of Open Season (2006) by Kathryn K — 09 Jun 2012
You can't quite deny the target audience here, and though you can sometimes hope for a few discreet adult jokes, there are too few here to keep the grown-ups that involved. That said, there are enough visual gags to keep you laughing with the kids. It's a short and sweet family film that you can actually enjoy on your own.
While the animation is good, the music fun, the intro colourful and cheery, Open Season suffers from an inconsistent lead character and a formulaic, predictable story. Admittedly, it won't be to the youngest, but this has limited appeal overall, a filler if you're desperate for something giggly but short, and want to enjoy Martin Lawrence's voice work.
