Review of Open Range (2003) by Petros T — 27 Dec 2010
It's close thematically to celebrated westerns with a truly stunning photography and various themes such as bad sheriffs, corrupted landlords etc. Although it sets off as a decent small-scale film and doesn't feel like it's got actual prospects, it turns into something a bit more profound (still not special) and climaxes with the heart-stopping final fight.
Unfortunately, the duration (133 min.) and the mediocre performance and direction by Costner scar this good-intentioned film.
