Review of Only the Brave (2017) by David L — 13 Nov 2017
This is another great storytelling movie using visual effect. The movie is not as same as other disaster movies, not showing audiences how heroism they were, nor how powerful they were. It would tell the audiences they are all just human beings, but they choose to protect people from wildfire.
The picture not only shows the heroism of elite firefighters but also the choice between job and family. However, Joseph Kosinski didn't talk too much about this topic. And the plot was too straight, the director didn't use the last case for the climax, it simply describes what they were facing, how they got trapped, how they lost their life. Firefighters fight against emotionless wildfire for people, they were all brave, fearless and strong, should be what we need to proud of.
