Review of Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) by John M — 25 Apr 2014
The premise of this film in the hands of a different director could have ended up terribly. It has the potential to be laughably pretentious in its gothic setting. The fact that Jim Jarmusch is a director who can explore humans just by watching them sit makes this a very unique experience.
It has beauty in the mundane with natural performances that just feel intoxicating. There's a little too much meandering in the third act, but other than "Let the Right One In," this is one of the more unique Vampire films I've ever seen.
