Review of Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) by Jessica T — 26 Jun 2014
Wonderfully weird and existential. Every frame is exquisitely rendered. With otherworldly majesty and poise, Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston convey the spirit of vampire lovers who have lived through the centuries.
They are living records of history, connoisseurs of art, music and literature. As a love story, "Only Lovers Left Alive" explores what it means to grow with and accept one's partner through the passage of time.
As a meditation on life, the film reflects on ways humans give meaning and passion to their existence.
