I can't think of a vampire story I've really loved this side of Dracula, till now. Two of the best actors in the world bring a meaningful love story to life, and wonderfully practical concerns are raised that the 'True Blood' writers never dreamed of.
As with the best of fantastic/ genre fiction, allegory is at play... but it is tolerably subtle. This is a deceptively warm, funny, wise film... almost certainly Jarmusch's best.
