Review of Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) by Calvin C — 19 Sep 2014
Jim Jarmusch films are an acquired taste. This is one of his more accessible films. Despite its main characters being vampires, the movie avoids all the vampire movie cliches and tells a simple story about two lovers reuniting after years apart. Living for centuries, they have become jaded with humans and the world. Their lives have become uneventful and mundane. Not a lot happens, but the movie has style and Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton are so cool together. Even without the vampire element, this movie is an interesting story about the lasting notion of love.
Grade: A-.
