Review of Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) by Anthony S — 25 Jan 2015
Strangely beautiful but effectively uninvolving. Jim Jarmusch films are always strange and wondrous but this one feels like it doesn't have enough meat on the bone. Set in Detroit and Tangier, Adam and Eve are vampire lovers who have survived centuries only to be left disillusioned by the human world.
Beautifully shot with a great score there are some interesting ideas here. It just doesn't connect enough to make it feel like a complete film.
