Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Robert A. R — 13 Oct 2013
Curious movie. Refn works with a minimalists brush stroke that doesn't service the magnitude of the events that take place. All you are left with is a state of uneasiness that should have been reserved for the film's gruesome nature.
In other words, it doesn't track well. If anything the lines are blurred quite nicely between good and evil. And if you aren't afraid to admit it the foreigner gets his butt kicked--just as it should be.
