Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Kevin M — 14 Dec 2013
Refn only delves deeper into his artistic side after the success of "Drive" two years ago. In result, this creates a product that at times is both maddeningly beautiful and over the top. He has such a strong visual eye that produces shots that dreams are made of but he could definitely use an editor for scenes that over stay their welcome.
It is slow to start but once it gets going it is a pretty unusual experience that is flawed but welcoming in a world of cinema that is just too predictable.
