Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Duncan K — 27 Jan 2014
Its easy to initailly love his mum and despise billy. The momentus pauses and ongoing tones to the deep notes played as background angst give you the idea family life might be emotional. This family however...
Dark precedes the colour and the sound moves you through the dreams of character from character. Portrait to portrait you feel that thailand and its seedy underbelly would just wash away but it doesnt. It leeches you. At times the time it takes to paint the mood does evade you but it achieves its goal most of the time and eventually it grips you. Rape, violence, paedophiles, its not like rainbows and sunshine but it?s not too bad.
