Review of Only Angels Have Wings (1939) by Stuart J. P — 16 Aug 2008
The suave charismatic Cary Grant runs a private airline in a treacherous South American pass. The flights are dangerous and the women just get in the way. Not that, that stops Jean Arthur falling for Grant's hard boiled character.
Superb play with sharp witty dialogue. Another fine example of why these old movies were considered the golden age of Hollywood. Nowadays they let anyone make a movie, in yesteryear's you needed talent.
Excellent.
