Review of Only Angels Have Wings (1939) by Noel V — 26 Feb 2008
Funny, thrilling, intricate, with an overall mood of melancholy that's unforgettable. The special effects (and they're amazing) have a miniaturized fascination and texture and detail CGI effects now can only dream of approaching.
If I don't rate this higher, that's because the film doesn't have the simplicity and elegance of Hawks' very best work; still, a great film.
