Review of Ong Bak 3 (2010) by Jade T — 07 Dec 2010
Ong Bak 1 & 2 were marvels of martial arts action. Tony Jaa emerged as a new action martial arts star to take the place of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Unfortunately, Ong Bak 3 doesn't pack enough punch to even compare to the first 2 films of this trilogy.
Don't get me wrong now. The action quality stays on par for the Tony Jaa standard, but the quantity is disappointing. I mean...I'm talking about maybe 15-20 minutes of fighting in a 90 min. film! That's just sad.
It had potential, but I fear that the film maker (Tony Jaa himself) lost himself in the self-indulgent cinematography of it all and forgot what it is the fans love...Violent, Brutal, jaw dropping martial arts action.
