Review of Ong Bak 2 (2008) by Russell G — 15 May 2010
I went to watch this movie already knowing that all I wanted was to watch Tony Jaa perform his Muay Thai martial arts. So, my expectations were actually met very well. This movie has a lot of fighting in it. Tony Jaa destroys opponent after opponent. I'd say I enjoyed his stunts more in Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior than I did in this one, but like I said, there was a lot of fighting.
The thing that brings down this film is the attempt at story. It has potential but it's really lazily thrown together and not interesting enough to bring anything to the film. It ends up being annoying because you'd rather be watching Tony Jaa fight people.
I'd say the perfect way to watch this film is to just fast forward through any scenes where Tony Jaa isn't putting his knees and elbows into his adversaries.
