Review of One Week (2008) by Isabelle G — 27 Jan 2010
Joshua Jackson's splendid performance as Ben, a man with cancer who travels across Canada by motorcycle, is overshadowed by how sappy and overly patriotic the film is. The director is shoving Canada down our throats, and giving shitty Canadian musicians cameos.
Ben's girlfriend is one of the most unlikeable and clingy women in recent memory, no wonder he cheats on her in the woods. Well shot and I liked the narration, but it's sickening how big of a boner McGowan has for his country.
