Review of One Missed Call (2003) by Erik O — 26 Dec 2007
I wasn't really that impressed with this one. By now, all J-Horror films seem to share the same elements... woman/man either dies a horrible death or leads a life scorned, then their ghost attacks people in a chain-letter style for no other reason than to infiltrate our latest gadgets like television sets and cell phones.
In this case, it's the cell phone that passes on the evil spirit by going through the victim's contact list. Some of the death scenes are laughable, from the girl who falls onto the moving train to the idiotic guy standing in front of the elevator shaft that opens.
There is a pretty neat scene toward the end involving the final showdown in an abandoned hospital, but other than that - this movie was so "been there, done that" it wasn't even interesting nor chilling.
