Review of One Magic Christmas (1985) by Jordan P — 19 Aug 2017
I love this movie! I do not understand the bad reviews. Yes it is too dark for very young ones. It captures the emotions of families at Christmas time quite well. The children's high expectations and the struggling parents difficulties with the season. The Santa's workshop is the best of any Christmas film out there. Ut really is kind of "It's A Wonderful Life" type story as the Mom gets to see what really matters when she has to deal with her husband's death right at Christmas and then finds out he really did not die. Like when Jimmy Stewart gets to see life in town without him. One Magic Christmas also captures rural Canada especially Ontario very well. I think too many people don't get the point, those bad things that are happening to Steenburgen's character are for her benefit to learn to make room for Christmas spirit in her heart.
Anyhow all IMHO and I could go on and on :-).
One of my favorite Christmas movies and my kids who are now grown up loved it even at a pretty young age!
