Review of One Last Thing... (2005) by Jami L — 14 May 2009
One Last Thing is the story of Dylan Jameison, a 16 who is terminally ill with Cancer. He is granted a last wish by the Wish Givers Foundation, to go on a fishing trip with his favorite football player. During the live television broadcast, Dylan changes his wish. Instead saying that he would rather spend a week alone with Supermodel Nikki Sinclair. Then Dylan and his two best friends go on a quest to New York, to try to make his wish come true.
This is a touching, tear jerking story with some comic relief laced in. When I saw that this movie was directed by Alex Steyermark, I thought I should check it out. He directed 2003's Prey For Rock And Roll, which I liked. He clearly has a thing for actress Gina Gershon. Not that I blame him, she is beautiful and usually entertaining in that bitchy way that I can appreciate. I was a huge Sex And The City fan, so it was nice to see Cynthia Nixon in this movie. Michael Angarano was admirable as Dylan, he really tugged at the heart strings. I was tickled to see Ethan Hawke cameo has Dylan's dad. I have had great veneration for him, since the 90s.
One Last Thing is easily a movie worth checking out. You may want to bring your Kleenex.
