Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by Ernest K — 05 Oct 2009
Robin Williams? turn as a psychopath is brilliantly creepy. Williams plays Seymour, the head of a Wal-Mart-esque shopping mart one hour photo lab. After years of obsession with a family who have their photos done by him, he loses grip on reality and ultimately believes he is part of their family.
More and more, he becomes intrusive on their everyday lives until it spirals into a dangerous and disturbing climax. The subtlety of this film gives it its edge, but it is Williams that really brings it home.
No matter how creepy he is, you can?t help feeling sorry for him. Well written and directed by Mark Romanek.
