Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by Kevin C — 10 Dec 2009
An ultimately unique take on the psychopath genre. It's subtle and quiet in all the right ways. As soon as your drawn into liking the main character you're instantly barraged with doubt about his intentions.
Robin Williams was perfect for this role. Such an unusual step in his career. You needed a friendly face leading this picture. The subject matter is well worth mulling over. I thoroughly enjoyed the moral dilemma present towards the end.
What's impressive to me is how well director Romanek can ratchet up the intensity seemingly whenever he wants. Worth a look undoubtedly.
