Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by Mike H — 24 Feb 2010
One Hour Photo, is a gutsy and gripping psychological thriller. A Photographic Lab Technician, Seymour (Sy) Parrish played by Robin Williams is a lonely and sad character living his life through other peoples' photographs. He develops a dangerous obsession with one particular young family whose photographs he has processed over the years.
I guess no one ever really thought that the guy who develops your photos for years, would know more about you and your personal life than you would really want him to. This movie shows what can happen if a developer gets obsessed with your personal life and feels that he is or should be part of your 'normal' life.
The storytelling is for most part good and shows how Sy Parrish slowly slips from being obsessed, to becoming a dangerous and psychotic stalker, when things don't go his way.
This is a very sad film almost all the way through, but the end was beautifully done and one to savor. Highly recommended.
