Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by John P — 17 Aug 2014
It is films like this I am kind of glad the majority of us use digital cameras nowadays. One Hour Photo is the next installment in my Top Five best Robin Williams films and this just so happens to be number four on my list.
As funny and whimsical he can be onscreen, he can also become very serious and dark with his roles and this film shows it in spades. I don't know what draws me in every time I grab this from my DVD rack.
Maybe it is because it gives a horrifying tone in a realistic world when someone becomes so obsessive over someone else that it is absolutely shocking when it is revealed. Robin Williams shows a lot of character in here and mystery that goes with it as to why he does these things.
He also gives some very colorful narration about film and pictures that it really becomes very intriguing. The cast who plays the family are pretty okay, I mean there your average family oblivious to the minor details in things.
But when it is revealed it becomes a lot better. The other supporting cast are just there to fill their roles, however I just feel like most of them become wasted near the end. There are also some scenes where it tends to drag on a bit, but I guess the movie has to do something to fill in an hour and a half.
Overall, it is a shocking and dark film for something that fells like a real life horror movie. Four stars all the way!
