Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Robert A — 31 Mar 2012
Just watched this amazing movie again. It means even more to me now than the first time I watched it, for one because my sister has been in a hospital for 3 years now. I don't remember what I got out of this movie after my first viewing, but after this viewing I got a great deal out of it.
I saw the light of day. It was a rewarding experience. I get a similar feeling when I watch The Shawshank Redemption. "Get busy living, or Get busy dying", eh? Freedom is something most of us take for granted.
Some of us don't even know how lucky we are to have our sanity, that is a freedom in itself, freedom from insanity. The brain is fragile and minor damage can change your life. The best moment of the movie is the final scene.
It will always be one of my favorite moments of any movie. That scene lifts me up. No matter how big of a hole I may find myself in in my life I know I can always come back to this movie and wait for that final scene to help me out of it.
It brings me to an even greater high than The Shawshank Redemption, if I were to make comparisons. I think it's time for me to read the novel.
