Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Sam A — 12 Feb 2014
Incredibly acted, charmingly hilarious and extraordinarily difficult to watch in parts, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a classic film and for good reason. One of three films to ever win the big 5 Oscars (acting, directing, picture, screenplay) and all were deserving wins.
My favorite character was Will Sampson as stony faced 'chief'. He had some moments of humor and some moments of agony in the film and Sampson acted him brilliantly. Also you can't go past the performance of Louise Fletcher as the iconic Nurse Ratched.
Heartless, by the book and rigid, Fletcher was well deserving of her Oscar and it should go down in history as an exceptional performance (it has). Jack Nicholson was also incredible as we're the supporting cast in what is truly a fantastic film.
