Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Hassan I — 20 Feb 2014
An unforgettable classic of Cinema: bold, emotionally powerful and spellbinding. Jack Nicholson delivers the performance of a lifetime as a courageous man pretending to be crazy when he really isn't.
Alongside Louise Fletcher, who creates one of the most terrifying movie villains in recent memory, he takes the film to another level. Yet it would also be a crime to not mention the excellent supporting cast, phenomenal screenplay and intelligent direction.
Despite dealing with a grim subject, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is funny, deep, insightful and (addition to being heartbreaking) also heartwarming. It's one of those rare movies you can see over and over again, and that is quite a remarkable achievement when you consider how depressing the subject matter of mental illness normally is.
