Jack Nicholson's electric performance is what makes the film so enjoyable, but its presence also adds greater depth to the final, tragic act. Aided by Will Sampson, Nicholson leads an endearing band of talented and looney actors, which helps push Cuckoo's Nest through its sometimes gluttonous pacing.
