Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Connor S — 24 Apr 2014
1975 was a great year for movies. Dog Day Afternoon, Jaws, Barry Lyndon, Nashville, and my favorite, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which won all five of the major Academy Awards, and for good reason.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is not only Milo Forman's masterpiece, but it is also Jack Nicholson's masterpiece. Even though they have both made great movies afterwards, nothing could compare to how great this film was, and how great they were in it.
The plot is about a mental institution and the conditions that the patients had to live under, combining humor, seriousness, and a tragic ending to have a truly great cause. Now, even if you don't care about the amzing script, direction, or acting, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest should still be watched for it's message and to see what mental institutions were like back in the day.
