Two great leads and some wonderful supporting roles from Jurado, Johnston and Pickens. The run-time is a little leisurely and the ending is all too disappointing considering the themes. Brando's cheat with the bullets in hand at the start is a strange, but fascinating, situation with which to set up the movie, but the film really shouldn't have resorted to 'Rio the hero' by the end.

By all accounts the studio had the final say and scrapped the original ending - what a shame. Unforiven pounced on what is truly great about this movie and brought them home with a little more flair, but One Eyed Jacks is definitely still worth a look.
