Review of One-Eyed Jacks (1961) by Reece H — 26 Sep 2008
Brando directs himself as a cool, at least half evil bandit, which should be selling point enough for this existentially tinged revenge tale. I felt the ending didn't have the gravity or consequence present in the rest of the film.
The poorly paced lead up to the finale and the aforementioned tonal shift keep this one from being as classic as a Leone or Ford Western, but for at least 2/3rds, it's certainly a contender.
